The Pumpkin Festival

The Pumpkin Festival is held every August. The festival dates back to the late nineteenth century and is dedicated to the ancient Halloween custom of carving pumpkins. The tradition began in Ireland, where they would carve pumpkins with the soul of a dead person. Now, it is celebrated as a full-blown festival with contests, games, and fun for all the family.

To start theĀ Pumpkin Fest, you will need to allow time for lining up the various spooky costumes and treats. It is best to arrive early so that you can avoid the crush of traffic. Once you get to the festival venue, you will be greeted by a giant pumpkin, representing all the scary things kids love about the festival. The festival itself is filled with activities for children and adults alike.

One of the biggest events of the festival is the Jack ‘O Lantern’ pageant. Competitors duke it out to see who can draw the most Jack ‘O Lantern’. It’s a costume competition, but the real contest is to see who can carve the most pumpkin. There are several age divisions as well.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Another big highlight of the festival is the Great Pumpkin Competition. Prizes range from a grand prize to a pumpkin that can be displayed in your front yard for years. Children can also enjoy the chance to create their own pumpkin and dress it up like a favorite witch, princess, or pumpkin. The more creative and original your pumpkin are, the better.

To keep children busy during the day, a variety of arts and crafts booths will be set up. Artists and crafters set up with their creations and will sell their items to hungry crowds. If you are looking for some seasonal decorations, you may want to consider getting a flagpole or lantern in the festival’s colors. Tourist will also find plenty of entertainment near the festival.

The festival is held outdoors in the mid morning. It gets quite chilly at that time. It’s a wonderful way to end the summer. Each morning, a tractor pulls up and a pumpkin is lifted into the air. People then gather to watch the fun-filled event. Every night there are special events held that include a pumpkin parade.

You can plan on going to the pumpkin patch during the day or the evening. There are some very old-fashioned ways of celebrating pumpkin days that have been handed down throughout the centuries. Some people like to hold bonfires and decorate them with pumpkins. Others prefer a dinner party where they serve pumpkin pie and pumpkin cakes. Whichever way you choose to celebrate Pumpkin Festival, you’ll be surrounded by festive colors and amazing aromas.

Although not listed on the World Bank list of certified pumpkin breeders, there are several local farmers who raise and produce quality pumpkins. They also prepare the harvest pumpkin so visitors can enjoy eating pumpkin right along their table. If you are interested in learning more about attending the festival, contact your local farmers. They will be more than happy to tell you all about it. Then you can make arrangements to attend in order to partake in this fun and exciting event.

The festival is held primarily in early October but can be hosted at any time of the year. Check your local listings to find out when the next pumpkin gathering will be held. You don’t want to miss out on this once yearly event if it is offered in your area. Besides offering a chance to celebrate and enjoy the season, the festival attendees get to enjoy the harvest as well.

The harvest pumpkin is on display at the festival. Farmers from around the county or region bring their best produce and share it at the fair. The visitors are invited to eat pumpkin pies, bread and “pumpkins” made by the participating farmers. If you are lucky enough to attend the festival, don’t forget to take home one of the sweetest and tastiest pumpkins you’ve ever tasted.

When buying or making pumpkin products, make sure you buy from a reputable provider. You can easily check the quality of a pumpkin by looking at the fruit. A good pumpkin is always green with crisp and white skin. A weakly-colored pumpkin is a good indicator that the fruit has been exposed to an alkaline environment which can reduce its quality. Always remember to use oil-free products when preparing baked goods and fruits to avoid excessive damage to the flesh.
